Abandoned Personal Property Attention Landlords
Effective Jan 1st 2013
Landlord can keep or dispose of personal property less than $700 that tenant leaves behind after termination of tenancy, but must sell property of $700 or more at public auction.
Landlord cannot charge any storage cost if a tenant reclaims personal property within two days of vacating the premises.
Landlord must provide statutory notice about personal property in tenant notices.
